Theatre on Ice is an exciting new aspect of skating. It involves ensemble skating, creating an entire picture by transcending the literal and creating emotion, allowing a skater to develop the dramatic side of their skating. Theatre on Ice skaters do not lose their identity as a skater, but are able to enhance that identity as a team member. Members perform at both competitions and shows. It is a great opportunity to be part of a team while continuing to develop technical skills. The Theatre on Ice Team travels both locally and internationally.
2007 Phoenix Theatre on Ice team will perform “INTO THE WOODS”. The story goes like this: Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom lived a baker and his wife whose greatest wish was to have a child. Unfortunately, an evil enchantress had cast a spell that left the baker’s family tree a barren one. The only way to reverse this spell was to find a golden slipper belonging to a princess, and the red cape of a small girl. To do this they must go “Into the Woods”
It is the goal of U.S. Figure Skating to expose Theatre on Ice via various exhibitions in the United States. Phoenix Theatre on Ice team will have many local opportunities to exhibit our production “INTO THE WOODS”.
